MISCUP 2023 Recap

MISCUP is an internal athletic and intellectual contest open to all students and held between the three Mentari Schools, MISJ (Jakarta), MISB (Bintaro), and MISGS (Grand Surya). MISCUP was split over three separate days at each campus taking place on the 14th, 15th, and 28th of October, ensuring each campus received an equal share in hosting the games.
Day 1 Results: 6🥇, 14🥈, 6🥉
MISCUP opened on 14th of October with three competitions: debate, swimming, and badminton, hosted on the MISJ campus. The SMP and SMA debate team and 4 MISJ’s swimming athletes were contributors for MISJ’s first place medals. While MISJ showcased dominance in the debate competition, MISJ fell under the dominance of MISGS and MISB in badminton and swimming respectively.

Day 2 Results: 3🥇, 3🥈, 1🥉
The next day, the 15th of October, was hosted by MISB with basketball, mini soccer, and essay writing.
Mini Soccer
Despite sharing the amount of wins and draws against MISB, there just had to be one winner. MISJ’s victory relied on the Goal Difference (GD). In the SMP category, MISJ won first place, having a 10-0 scoreline against MISGS. On the other hand, MISJ’s SMA team had to concede against MISB, 4 points behind in GD.

Basketball
MISJ’s SMP team showcased a convincing victory against MISGS and MISB, earning the first place spot. On the other hand, MISJ had a narrow gap with MISB, failing to secure the second place.

MISJ showed total dominance on the essay writing competition. Unfortunately, MISGS was not able to participate in this competition, reducing the amount of competitors.
Day 3 Results: 2🥇, 3🥈, 0🥉
MISCUP finally closed nearly two weeks later on the 28th of October, bringing the event to a climax with volleyball, table tennis, and chess hosted by MISGS.
Volleyball SMA
As there were no participants from MISJ and MISB for the SMP category, the SMP competition was skipped. MISGS faced a turbulent start however they found their way through, winning 3-1 against MISB and MISJ respectively. The last match of the day was MISJ vs MISB, to decide who will take the second place. MISJ earned the second place by a close margin during the tiebreaker.

Table tennis
Without MISB sending any players for table tennis, the competition was entirely between MISJ and MISGS. MISJ was able to gain victory against MISGS in the SMP Boys Singles category, winning by 3-2. Unfortunately, for the other two categories, SMA Boys Singles and Doubles, MISJ had to concede by 1-3.

No players were sent for Chess by MISB. MISJ gained one victory against MISGS.

As the results show, MISJ is the MISCUP 2023 champion. The victory is most dedicated to all students who participated in the competition because every single match matters. This MISCUP is also a victory for the Student Council as the council has finally succeeded in fulfilling a campaign promise that has long eluded many Student Councils in the past. As the first Council to organize MISCUP, they have set a blueprint for the next Student Council to come.
